To ensure the best fit, lay the garment on a flat, even surface and smooth out any wrinkles. Use a measuring tape to take all measurements carefully.
For bust, waist, and hips (if applicable), lay the garment flat and measure straight from one side to the other. Since these measurements are taken on one side only, double the value to get the full circumference.
Measure the length from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem. For sleeve length, measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve. For top length, measure from the shoulder to the waist seam.
Always measure carefully and compare the measurements with a similar piece of clothing you already own to ensure the best fit.
